The Mint Mobile APN settings come down to one APN, Wholesale, and one picture-message address. The APN, or access point name, tells your phone how to reach the data network. The values below are copied from Mint’s Android setup page.

Try the text message first

Mint offers a shortcut before you type anything: “text SETUP to 6700 to have the correct settings sent to your phone”. Mint warns that a phone “may not automatically detect all the network settings”, which is when the manual route below is needed.

Two of Mint’s notes matter. It says “the input process is case sensitive”, so type each value as shown. And for MCC and MNC it says not to change the default values your phone already shows.

  1. Open Settings and find Access Point Names in the mobile network settings.
  2. Add a new APN.
  3. Enter the values from the table exactly as written.
  4. Save, then select the new APN.
  5. Restart the phone and send a picture message to test.

Mint Mobile APN settings for iPhone

On a current iPhone there is nothing to enter. Mint’s iPhone setup page says: “if you have iOS 13 and above, your device comes with Mint Mobile’s settings pre-installed so you don’t have to worry about configuring.”

On iOS 12, Mint says you may get a notice from Apple to update carrier settings, and warns: “If you don’t update them, you won’t be able to use your service.”

Mint gives values to type only for iPhones on software older than iOS 12.

Leave usernames, passwords, the MMS proxy and everything under LTE Setup blank, then restart the iPhone.

Questions

Which network do these settings connect to?

T-Mobile’s. T-Mobile owns Mint Mobile. More on that is on our Mint Mobile page.

Picture messages fail but the web works

Check the MMSC and MMS port lines, and that APN type includes mms with no spaces.
