There is no single set of Straight Talk APN settings. Straight Talk gives them out per phone. Its support page says: “Text APN to 611611 OR Enter your Phone Number or SIM below for detailed programming instructions.” The APN, or access point name, tells your phone how to reach the data network, and on Straight Talk the right one depends on which SIM you have.

How to get your Straight Talk APN settings

  1. From your Straight Talk phone, text the word APN to 611611.
  2. Or open Straight Talk’s APN settings page on Wi-Fi and enter your phone number or the number printed on your SIM.
  3. Enter the values it gives you. On Android they go under Access Point Names in the mobile network settings.
  4. Restart the phone, turn Wi-Fi off and open a web page to test.

Use Wi-Fi for step 2. If your data is not working, the lookup page will not load over the mobile network.

Why a list from another site may not work

Straight Talk has sold SIMs on more than one network. Its own plans page separates “customers on the Verizon network” from “all other customers”. Each network has its own APN, so a value that works on one Straight Talk SIM fails on another.

This site was part of the problem. In 2016 we published two separate sets of Straight Talk settings, one for its AT&T SIMs and one for its T-Mobile SIMs. Neither covered Verizon, where Straight Talk puts new customers today. We have removed them. A wrong APN costs you an afternoon. The lookup takes a minute.

Straight Talk APN settings on an iPhone

Use the same lookup. Apple says you can view or edit the APN on an iPhone only “if your carrier allows it”, under Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data Network. If the screen is missing, the SIM is supplying the settings and there is nothing to type.

Tracfone and Total Wireless work the same way

Both are Verizon brands like Straight Talk, and both support pages give the same instruction: text APN to 611611, or enter your phone number or SIM for programming instructions.

Questions people ask

Is the Straight Talk APN the same as Verizon’s?

Not necessarily. Straight Talk is owned by Verizon, but it issues its own settings per SIM. Use what the lookup gives you.

My data stopped after an iOS update

Apple says updating iOS resets any APN changes made by hand. Run the lookup again and re-enter them.
