The H2O Wireless APN settings turn on one word, RESELLER, and H2O is
specific that it “must be all CAPS”. The APN, or access point name, tells
your phone how to reach the data network. The values below are copied from
H2O’s SIM configuration page.
H2O Wireless APN settings for Android
H2O lists no proxy, port, username or password, so leave those empty.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | H2O |
| APN | RESELLER |
| Proxy | leave blank |
| Port | leave blank |
| Username | leave blank |
| Password | leave blank |
| MMSC | https://mmsc.mobile.att.net |
| MMS proxy | proxy.mobile.att.net |
| MMS port | 80 |
| MCC | 310 |
| MNC | 410 |
| APN type | default,mms,supl |
| APN protocol | IPV4 |
Two details are easy to miss.
The MNC depends on your SIM. It is 410 for most, and 280 if the number
printed on your SIM card starts with 8901280.
APN type has to be typed with “no spaces between each type”.
H2O also sets Authentication type to None.
- Open Settings and find Access Point Names in the mobile network settings.
- Add a new APN.
- Enter the values from the table. Type RESELLER in capitals.
- Save, then select the new APN.
- Restart the phone and send a picture message to test.
H2O Wireless APN settings for iPhone
There is nothing to enter. H2O says of iPhones: “These settings are automatically set to the correct values when H2O Wireless SIM cards are inserted and cannot be changed.”
If data still does not work on an iPhone, H2O’s fix is a network reset, under Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings. That also clears saved Wi-Fi passwords.
If it still does not work
Which network is H2O Wireless on?
H2O’s site does not name one. Its settings use AT&T’s picture-message server and AT&T’s network code, and Wikipedia’s list of MVNOs puts H2O on AT&T. Its plans are on our H2O Wireless page.
Who do I call?
H2O gives its technical support number as 1-800-643-4926.
Picture messages fail but the web works
Check the MMSC, MMS proxy and MMS port lines, and that APN type includes
mms with no spaces.
