Mint Mobile plans are advertised by the month and sold by the term. The headline is $15 a month. What you pay is $45, $120 or $180 in one go, for 3, 6 or 12 months of service. Mint has been owned by T-Mobile since May 1, 2024, when T-Mobile completed its purchase of Mint’s parent company.

The three-month price is an introduction

The first column is a new-customer offer “for first 3 months only”. After it, you choose again. Renew for three months at a time and Mint’s own labels give the regular price: $25 a month for 6 GB, $35 for 17 GB, $45 for 23 GB and $40 for Unlimited.

So the pattern is simple. The low price is permanent only if you pay for a full year. Mint is cheap for people who can put down $180 to $360 at once, and ordinary for people who cannot.

Every plan includes mobile hotspot and calls to Mexico, Canada and the United Kingdom. On Unlimited, Mint says customers who use more than 50 GB in a month “may notice reduced speeds” for the rest of that month.

Which network does Mint Mobile use?

T-Mobile’s. Mint’s plans page says only “the Nation’s Largest 5G Network”. T-Mobile is more direct. Its announcement of the purchase said the deal “locks in Mint and Ultra’s connectivity to T-Mobile’s industry-leading 5G network for the long-term”, and that the brands “will continue to operate autonomously”.
