The PureTalk APN settings turn on one word, RESELLER, and PureTalk says it
“must be all CAPS”. The APN, or access point name, tells your phone how to
reach the data network. The values below are copied from
PureTalk’s data issues page.
PureTalk APN settings for Android
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Profile name | PureTalk |
| APN | RESELLER |
| MMSC | http://mmsc.mobile.att.net |
| MMS proxy | proxy.mobile.att.net |
| MMS port | 80 |
| MCC | 310 |
| MNC | 410 |
| Authentication type | None |
| APN protocol | IPV4 |
| APN type | default,mms,supl |
PureTalk lists no proxy, port, username or password.
Two details are easy to miss. The MNC is 280, not 410, if the number
printed on your SIM card starts with 8901280. And APN type has to be typed
with “no spaces between each type”.
- Open Settings and find Access Point Names in the mobile network settings.
- Add a new APN.
- Enter the values from the table. Type RESELLER in capitals.
- Save, then select the new APN.
- Restart the phone and send a picture message to test.
PureTalk APN settings for iPhone
There is nothing to enter. PureTalk says of iPhones: “These settings are automatically set to the correct values when PureTalk SIM cards are inserted and cannot be changed.”
Its suggested fix is a network reset, under Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings. That also clears saved Wi-Fi passwords.
Questions
Which network do these settings connect to?
PureTalk does not name its network. The picture-message server and network code in its settings are AT&T’s. More is on our PureTalk page.
Who do I call?
