Verizon Nokia Lumia 929 is going to be the first Lumia to drop number name and launch as the Lumia Icon. There has been rumors that Nokia will drop model numbers on upcoming Lumia smartphones even though it will still keep its flagship name ‘Lumia’.

Recently Evleaks claimed that the upcoming Verizon Nokia Lumia 929 will be the first Lumia to ship with new branding name and will officially be called the Lumia Icon when it’s released. Its also expected that the smartphone will be released on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 (Windows Phone Central claims so), however the date is more likely to be changed. We expect that Verizon Lumia Icon to be announced a few days after CES 2014. Microsoft Store will likely begin stocking of the handset earlier and allow pre-order of the phone.
Verizon Nokia Lumia Icon powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, and include 32GB of internal storage and also features a 20-megapixel PureView camera and 5-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD AMOLED display. The smartphone will be running on the latest version of Windows Phone 8 Update 3 and Nokia’s Lumia Black Update. It also offers wireless connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS, 4G LTE radio and NFC. Black and white model colors are reported to be available.
Since the acquisition by Microsoft, there has been a lot of changes in Nokia. 2014 is going to be really interesting one to look out for Nokia, as Microsoft starts to improve its standing in the smartphone market share with its Windows Phone mobile operating system and providing all notable financial and technological advancements to beat the Google and Apple who still rules the smartphone market.
