Red Pocket Mobile plans cost $10, $20 or $30 a month. Red Pocket is an MVNO, a mobile virtual network operator, founded in 2006, and it sells service on more than one network. Its plans page says it “offers wireless plans on every major U.S. network, so no matter where you purchased your device—Verizon, T-Mobile, or AT&T, one of our plans will work for you.”

Fees and taxes are extra. The label for the $10 plan lists a $1 Regulatory Recovery Fee and a $0.25 Admin Fee each month, with taxes that vary by location. It also calls the $10 a “permanent rate”.

New customers get the first month of Plus or Premium at half price. Red Pocket’s small print limits that to “new customers or existing customers activating a new line”.

On the yearly plans, the first-year price is lower than the renewal. At the renewal rate Essentials works out to $9.17 a month, Plus to $18.33 and Premium to $27.50.

Which network does Red Pocket use?

Three, under its own labels. Red Pocket describes them by the phones they suit.

Red Pocket’s nameWorks with
GSMA“AT&T-compatible, GSM unlocked phones”
GSMT“T-Mobile-compatible, GSM unlocked phones”
CDMA“Verizon-compatible, GSM unlocked phones”

The plans above are the ones on Red Pocket’s main plans page. We could not read separate plan lists for GSMT and CDMA, so check that the plan you want is sold on your network.

One difference Red Pocket states itself: “Currently, the only network with international roaming is our GSMA network.”

You can tell which network a Red Pocket SIM is on from the number printed on it. It starts 89014 on GSMA, 89012 on GSMT and 89148 on CDMA.

Does Red Pocket support eSIM?

Yes. Red Pocket says a new customer “can use an eSIM—as long as your phone is eSIM compatible and GSM unlocked.” Existing customers can swap a SIM card for an eSIM.

Red Pocket APN settings
