Confused to select a smartphone insurance? We have a list of cellphone insurance plans compared. Find out if Apple Care for your iPhone is worth it?
When you buy an expensive phone let’s take the example of Samsung Galaxy S7, and it drops on the floor. The first thing that hits your mind is that you have got no insurance on it. The screen shatters with multiple lines running from one corner to other corners. The new display screen of Samsung will cost you around $270 and along with that one week time to get it replaced. At that moment only one thing would be running in your mind- why didn’t I opt for phone insurance beforehand?
I agree that you can put an armored case around your favorite smartphone or even a bubble wrap would do and a screen guard for display to protect it from scratches. The armored case may be waterproof, shatterproof and heat-resistant but let’s admit it; a new smartphone with a dull-looking case will not look good and classy. Many of us do not put on a protection on the new phone so as to show what cool item we have bought. But, if the new phone drops from a height or your pet dog scratches it then, a whopping amount of dollars is just waiting to get out of your pocket and decrease your financial savings.
Therefore, it is worth opting for a good cell phone insurance plan. I am listing below few popular options for phone insurance plans for your expensive smartphones. Generally, if you do not have insurance on your cell phone then, to replace edge display it will cost you $270 and $150 to swap the 3D Touch panel. There are various phone carriers which are handled by dedicated companies like Assurant or Asurion. Asurion also provides Asurion cell phone insurance. So, select an appropriate insurance plan for your dear phone.

The Nutshell
You may think that insurance is costly but if you pay $5 or $6 per month then, it will be quite cheap and would be a good deal. It is a good deal looking up to the fact that screen damage caused by a simple drop will cost you around $270. Nowadays, the screen display of every smartphone is over $200 mark. So, $5 over $270 is a pretty great agreement. For example, you have Samsung Galaxy S7 with an insurance of Samsung Protection. Then, screen display replacement with insurance will cost you $210 in payment and deductible instead of $270 without insurance.
Without insurance, 3D touch panel of iPhone 6S costs around $149 for repair. However, Apple Care for iPhone with insurance costs $220 for the repair with deductibles. This does not look like a good offer but in case there is permanent water damage then, without insurance more than $300 will be charged (given the fact that a smartphone cost north of $650). If you make an online appointment beforehand then, a very quick repair and replacement service are provided by Apple Care for iPhone at any Apple store so that you do not have to wait for days to get it replaced.
In case your smartphone is stolen or gets lost then, there is no service available for you from Samsung Protection+, Apple Care or Square Trade. It costs $370-$470 for one accident in two years which is much more than the $7-$11 monthly installment. You need to look out for other carrier insurance plan which gives you theft, loss and accidental damage protection which are Verizon wireless phone insurance, AT$T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Therefore, it is up to you to choose.
If you are extremely careful with your phone and have never dropped their phone or got their phone lost or snatched then you can live without insurance. However, if you frequently drop your phone, have pets and children in your home, forget your phone here and there and live in a hazardous work environment then, getting the best phone insurance plan is important for you. All the very best!!!
