Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Open the Settings.
  2. Select Wireless & Networks.
  3. Select Mobile Networks.
  4. Select Access Point Names.
  5. Tap the three dots (or More..) at the bottom right and select New APN.
  6. Now enter the information for each field from the list of Verizon APN settings shown below.
    • Name: Verizon
    • APN: internet or vzwinternet
    • Proxy: blank
    • Port: blank
    • Username: blank
    • Password: blank
    • Server: blank
    • MMSC: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
    • MMS Proxy: blank
    • MMS Port: 80
    • MCC: 310

  1. Does creating this new APN mean that I will automatically receive MMS, without needing to manually turn my mobile data on?

  2. Didn’t work. I have to download and run an app that only works in root to use to even get to my apn settings. Anyone know how to fix this on a Verizon Note 3 ?

  4. I have the Samsung Galaxy S4 4G CDMA LTE. I purchased it through the new Smart Pay program through Straighttalk. I have no data and can’t receive/send MMS messages. Straighttalk has tried to fix this and can’t seem to figure it out. I’m denied access to my APN settings. I read where you can download an App that will backup APN setting and then delete them to set them to what you want. I can’t download that b/c my phone is an Android 5.0.1 and they don’t allow downloads from 3rd party. I’m at a total loss as what to do. Can anyone Please help me?!!?

    • samsung galaxy s4, Went threw 3 phones from smartpay.
With the verizon service, had no data.
Just found something that worked for me.
Only thing I was able to change in my APN settings was the APN name
      All Caps TRACFONE.VZWENTP
      That worked for me……
      Hoped that helps..

    • Thanks Les. :)
I’m sure a lot of people will be benefited from this. We have updated the article with the apn you have shared.

    • To Kari, it sounds like you need to have your phone unlocked. I paid a company on the Internet to unlock mine for $25.00.

    • Les you are a life saver! I took me almost 2 hours to fix my galaxy s5 because I accidentally erased the apn. I tried every apn i could find and finally I scrolled across this site and your advice! Thanks again

  5. A great app to create direct shortcuts to settings like APNs and other hidden menus is Anycut (the one with the mushroom icon). It is the only way I am able to access APN settings on my Droid Bionic for Straight Talk. Even though they say APN settings aren’t necessary because I used the CDMA Network Access Code, it is the only thing that enabled LTE for me.. Only thing is I can’t send or “download” MMS messages, which is what led me here.

  6. When using the TRACFONE.VZWENTP apn, do you fill in the rest the same? I am having trouble setting up a BLU Advance 5.0 unlocked with Verizon. Thanks.

  9. Apparently VZW has turned off the apn change option in many devices??. The info is grayed out or unavailable.
To overcome this problem these phones need to be rooted and then perform a simple operation to enable the change.
Rooting looks & sounds more scary than it is?, although it’s VERY important to learn about it BEFORE trying to do it!! Get educated here: https://www.xda-developers.com/root/!
Thereafter, the procedure for enabling apn changes can be found here: https://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-note-2-rooting-roms-hacks/241691-mod-add-apn-editor-system-settings.html.
    GOOD LUCK!

  10. OMG! I can not configure the Levono Phab2 Plus for the life of me! I’ve tried every APN setting I could find on the internet. I know it has to be something very simple… HELP Phab2 Plus Model PB2-650Y

  11. Thanks, Les. You’re a life saver. I was in help chats with people for up to an hour and they just walked me through the same old same old to no avail. Changing the name to TRACFONE.VZWENT worked immediately. I don’t understand how they could screw something as trivial as that up so badly.

  12. I purchased a new phone because none of the above worked. I immediately checked the APN and wrote it down, it was “Tracfone.VZWINTERNET” with the TracFone in small letters except for the “T”.
